The SGS 30130 is a single-end ball end mill machined from micrograin solid carbide, designed for precise contouring, profiling, and 3D surface milling in metalworking and manufacturing environments. It carries a 0.2344-inch cutting diameter, a 0.75-inch length of cut, and a 4-flute spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce chatter and vibration during cutting passes. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms.
The 30130 is suited for a wide range of workpiece materials, including hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, non-metallic materials, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. Its 1/4-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders used on vertical machining centers and CNC mills. The 2.5-inch overall length and regular-length designation make it appropriate for general-purpose cavity and contour work where extended reach is not required.
Designed for use in standard 1/4-inch collets and end mill holders on CNC vertical machining centers and manual mills. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, non-metallics, and high-temperature alloys. Part of the SGS Series 1B end mill family.
This tool is installed by machinists using a calibrated torque wrench and a clean, undamaged collet or end mill holder rated for the 1/4-inch shank diameter. Inspect the shank and collet bore for chips or debris before seating. Confirm spindle speed and feed rate against published cutting data for the specific workpiece material before engaging the cut. Do not exceed the rated length of cut or apply side loads that stress the tool beyond its designed depth of engagement.
