The SGS 30102 is a single-end ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, slots, and complex three-dimensional profiles. Built from micrograin solid carbide, this tool delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed for consistent performance in demanding cut conditions. It runs a 0.0156 inch (1/64 inch) mill diameter with a 0.0313 inch (1/32 inch) length of cut, a 1/8 inch shank diameter, and a 1.5 inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth surface finishes. It arrives uncoated and is suited for machinists and toolmakers working in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is intended for small-diameter finish and semi-finish milling operations where tight tolerances and fine detail are required. The Series 1B designation places it in a standard-reach, regular-length category appropriate for CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and high-speed spindle setups. It is compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. The variable index flute spacing helps reduce chatter at these small diameters.
Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as designated in the SGS Series 1B product line. Designed for use in standard CNC toolholders accepting a 1/8 inch shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder rated for a 1/8 inch shank to minimize runout. At this diameter, excessive runout or improper tool engagement depth will accelerate tool breakage — verify setup with a dial indicator before production cuts.
