The SGS 30055 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials. With a 0.3906-inch (25/64-inch) cutting diameter and four flutes, it delivers smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finishes in demanding applications. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for high-performance cutting. An AlTiN coating adds thermal resistance and wear protection, extending tool life in abrasive or elevated-temperature cuts. This tool is single-end, right-hand cut, and right-hand flute with a 30-degree helix angle. It is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production and job-shop environments.
The SGS 30055 suits finishing and semi-finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, heat-resistant alloys, and cast materials. Its variable index geometry reduces chatter and improves surface quality in contour milling, 3D profiling, and slot work. Primary workpiece material codes supported include H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous metals, steel, and superalloys. The regular-length configuration and 1-inch length of cut make it well suited to shallow-to-moderate depth profiling on CNC machining centers.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 7/16-inch round shank. Suitable for milling workpiece materials coded H, K, M, N, P, and S per the input specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard CNC tooling procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool-change protocol is engaged before inserting or removing the end mill. Use a precision collet or end mill holder rated for the 7/16-inch shank to maintain runout within acceptable limits. Verify tool projection and stick-out before initiating any cutting program.
