The SGS 30045 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of complex contours, curved surfaces, and 3D profiles. Built from micrograin carbide stock and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers strong wear resistance and heat tolerance in demanding cutting applications. The 4-flute, single-end configuration with a 30-degree helix angle and variable index geometry helps reduce chatter and improve surface finish. The cutting diameter is 0.2344 inches with a 0.75 inch length of cut. A licensed machinist or CNC operator typically installs and runs this tool in a vertical or horizontal machining center.
This end mill is suited for milling ferrous and non-ferrous metals, high-temperature alloys, cast iron, and other demanding workpiece materials. Primary workpiece material codes listed for this tool are H, K, M, N, P, and S, covering a broad range of material families including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel, heat-resistant alloys, and super alloys. The 0.25 inch shank diameter and 2.5 inch overall length make it compatible with standard ER and shrink-fit collet toolholders used in CNC milling setups.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills equipped with standard 0.25 inch collet or shrink-fit toolholders. Compatible with workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully to the recommended gauge-line depth in the toolholder and torque the collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as excess runout accelerates wear on small-diameter carbide tools.
