The SGS 30005 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision material removal in demanding machining applications. It features a 15/64-inch (0.2344-inch) cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch length of cut, and a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank, with an overall length of 2-1/2 inches. The four-flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote efficient chip evacuation and surface finish quality. An AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in high-temperature cutting conditions. Micrograin carbide substrate adds toughness and wear resistance. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and is manufactured to a mill diameter tolerance of +0.000/-0.002 inch.
The SGS 30005 is suited for milling operations across a broad range of workpiece materials, including cast iron, non-ferrous metals, stainless steel, steel alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. It fits standard CNC machining centers and manual mills with 1/4-inch collets or tool holders. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration make it compatible with conventional spindle setups. The regular-length profile keeps it manageable in tight clearance situations while still providing adequate reach for most general-purpose milling tasks.
Compatible with workpiece materials designated H (cast iron), K (non-ferrous metals), M (stainless steel), N (non-metallic and aluminum alloys), P (steel), and S (heat-resistant superalloys). Fits any tool holder or collet accepting a 1/4-inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the shank fully within the collet or tool holder to the manufacturer-recommended engagement depth before tightening. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Follow applicable shop safety procedures and machine manufacturer guidelines for maximum spindle speed and feed rate selection based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
