The SGS 09272 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. With a 3/32 inch (0.0900 inch) cutting diameter, a 17/64 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch straight cylindrical shank, this tool is built for tight-tolerance work in small-feature applications. The four-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes chip evacuation and surface finish quality. Manufactured from micrograin solid carbide, it offers the rigidity and wear resistance needed in production environments. Licensed machinists, tool and die makers, and CNC operators typically select this series for detailed slot milling, profiling, and plunge cutting in confined geometries.
The SGS 09272 is suited for light to moderate material removal in small-part machining on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills. Its centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry without pre-drilling. The 1-1/2 inch overall length and regular-length classification make it appropriate for standard reach applications where minimal tool deflection is a priority. This end mill fits production shops, toolrooms, and maintenance machining environments where small-diameter, high-precision cutting is routine. The uncoated finish makes it a baseline choice before selecting a coated variant for extended tool life in abrasive materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard 1/8 inch collet holders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines; part of the SGS Series 1810 regular-length end mill family.
Installation requires a collet or end mill holder rated for a 1/8 inch shank diameter; confirm runout is within acceptable tolerance before cutting to protect this small-diameter tool from premature breakage. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is properly secured before inserting or removing the end mill. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for solid carbide small-diameter tooling, and do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the 17/64 inch length of cut. Cutting fluid or air blast is recommended to manage chip load and heat at the cutting edge.
