The SGS 07378 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit designed for precision drilling in printed circuit boards and other tight-tolerance applications. Built to wire gauge size No. 38 (0.1015 inches decimal, 2.58 mm), it features a 130-degree four-facet point that reduces walking and improves hole entry accuracy. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance well beyond high-speed steel. With a 1/8-inch (0.1250-inch decimal) shank diameter and 1-1/2 inches overall length, this bit is sized for use in precision drilling machines, CNC drill presses, and handheld rotary tools. It is installed and operated by electronics technicians, PCB fabricators, and skilled trade professionals requiring repeatable, burr-minimized hole quality.
This drill bit is suited for drilling through fiber-reinforced polymers, plastics, aluminum, copper alloy, cast iron, stainless steel, nickel, cobalt alloy, and titanium. The regular spiral geometry and 30-degree helix angle support efficient chip evacuation in both through-hole and blind-hole drilling scenarios. The tapered web configuration adds strength at the core while keeping the cutting geometry sharp. This bit is installed by electronics technicians and precision machinists in drill chucks rated for the 1/8-inch shank diameter. Ensure the chuck is clean and the bit is seated securely before operation to prevent runout. Match spindle speed to the workpiece material per standard carbide drilling guidelines - carbide bits require higher RPM and lower feed force than HSS equivalents. Avoid side loading or flexing the bit during drilling, as solid carbide is brittle and will fracture under lateral stress.
