The SGS 07317 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit designed for precision drilling in printed circuit board fabrication and related small-hole applications. It carries a wire gauge size of 62 with a decimal diameter of 0.0380 inches and an overall length of 1.5 inches. The 130-degree four-facet point geometry promotes clean entry and reduces thrust force when drilling hard or layered materials. The uncoated solid carbide construction delivers rigidity and edge retention at small diameters. A 1/8-inch shank diameter and 0.4-inch flute length complete the profile. Licensed electricians, electronics technicians, and precision fabricators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This bit is suited for drilling small-diameter holes in PCB substrates, fiber-reinforced polymers, plastics, copper alloy laminates, and non-ferrous metals encountered in electronics and light manufacturing environments. The regular spiral with a 30-degree helix angle supports chip evacuation in shallow-hole drilling scenarios typical of board work. The tapered web configuration adds strength at the cutting tip. It is also rated for use in aluminum, cast iron, cobalt alloy, nickel, stainless steel, and titanium workpieces where fine hole tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for precision small-hole drilling applications in PCB fabrication and light manufacturing where a wire gauge size 62, 1/8-inch shank, solid carbide bit is specified.
This bit is installed in compatible drill chucks or CNC spindles accepting a 1/8-inch shank. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are properly fixtured before operation to prevent bit deflection at this diameter. Use appropriate speeds and feeds for the workpiece material to avoid bit fracture. Inspect the cutting tip for chipping before each use, as solid carbide bits at this diameter are brittle under lateral load.
