The SGS 07298 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit designed for precision drilling in printed circuit board fabrication and related fine-tolerance applications. It carries a wire gauge size of No. 73, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.0240 inches (0.61 mm), with a 130-degree four-facet point geometry that promotes accurate entry and minimizes walking on hard, abrasive substrates. The 1/8-inch (0.1250-inch decimal) shank diameter fits standard PCB drilling spindles and CNC drill chucks. Overall length is 1.5 inches, with a flute length of 0.3400 inches. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides the rigidity and edge retention required at sub-millimeter diameters.
This drill bit is suited for small-hole drilling operations in electronics manufacturing, prototyping shops, and precision machining environments. The regular spiral with a 30-degree helix angle and tapered web configuration handles a broad range of workpiece materials, including aluminum, copper alloy, plastics, fiber-reinforced polymers, stainless steel, titanium, cobalt alloy, cast iron, and nickel-based alloys. Right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional CNC and benchtop drilling setups used by machinists and electronics fabricators.

This bit is installed by machinists or electronics fabrication technicians using a collet or chuck sized for the 1/8-inch shank. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are secured before initiating the drilling cycle. At this diameter, feed rate and spindle speed must be carefully controlled to avoid bit breakage - consult the machine manufacturer guidelines for recommended parameters for carbide tooling at sub-0.030-inch diameters. Inspect the bit for tip chipping before each use, as solid carbide at this scale is brittle and sensitive to side loading.
