The SGS 07293 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit designed for precision drilling in printed circuit boards and other small-diameter applications. It carries a wire size designation of 76, corresponding to a decimal diameter of 0.0200 inches (0.51 mm), and features a 130-degree four-facet point geometry that promotes accurate entry and reduces walking on hard or layered materials. The 1/8-inch (0.1250-inch decimal) shank diameter is compatible with standard drill chucks and CNC spindle collets. At 1.5 inches overall length with a flute length of 0.3100 inches, this bit is built for controlled, short-stroke drilling passes typical in electronics manufacturing and precision machining environments.
This drill bit is suited for drilling circuit boards, plastics, fiber-reinforced polymers, copper alloys, aluminum, cast iron, stainless steel, titanium, cobalt alloys, and nickel-based materials. Its regular spiral and 30-degree helix angle support efficient chip evacuation in these materials. The tapered web configuration adds rigidity at the cutting edge, making it appropriate for both manual drill press work and CNC drilling operations where positional accuracy is critical. Technicians and machinists in electronics assembly, precision fabrication, and prototyping shops are the primary users of this bit.
Designed for use in circuit board drilling applications and compatible with workpiece materials including aluminum, cast iron, cobalt alloy, copper alloy, fiber-reinforced polymers, nickel, plastics, stainless steel, and titanium. Fits any drill press or CNC spindle accepting a 1/8-inch shank. Part of SGS Series 105.
Install in a drill press or CNC spindle equipped with a collet or chuck sized for a 1/8-inch shank; verify runout before drilling to prevent bit deflection or breakage at this diameter. Secure the workpiece firmly before drilling - circuit board material and fiber-reinforced polymers can shift under lateral force. At 0.0200-inch diameter, carbide bits are brittle and susceptible to breakage from side load or feed-rate spikes; follow machine manufacturer feed and speed guidelines for the specific workpiece material. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification before reuse, as carbide at this scale does not tolerate chip-backs or edge damage.
