The SGS 07284 is a solid carbide micro drill bit engineered for very small hole drilling in demanding materials. It measures 0.0160 inches (1/64 inch) in diameter with a 1.5000-inch overall length and features a 130-degree four-facet point ground to tight tolerances of +0.0000 to +0.0003 inches. The bright, uncoated finish keeps the carbide surface exposed for maximum hardness and edge retention. With a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank and a 2-flute spiral design, this bit is suited for precision drilling operations in machine shop and production environments where accuracy at small diameters is critical.
The 07284 is designed for very small hole drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and other hard materials. Its 15xD flute-by-diameter ratio and web-thinned construction support chip evacuation in deep, tight bores. This bit is typically run on CNC machining centers, drill presses, or precision benchtop machines where spindle runout is controlled and feed rates are dialed in for micro-diameter tooling.
Designed as a Series M105 micro drill bit for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision drilling fixtures accepting a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials per the primary workpiece material designations P, M, K, N, S, and H.
Micro drill bits at this diameter require a machine spindle with minimal runout — verify spindle and collet concentricity before use. Secure the 1/8-inch shank fully in a precision collet or drill chuck rated for the RPM range appropriate to the workpiece material and diameter. Feed rate and spindle speed must be calculated for the 0.0160-inch diameter to avoid bit deflection or breakage. Do not apply side load or use the bit as a reamer.
