The SGS 07279 is a solid carbide circuit board drill bit designed for precision drilling in printed circuit board fabrication and electronic assembly applications. Built to wire gauge size No. 79, it cuts at a decimal diameter of 0.0145 inches (0.37 mm) with a 130-degree four-facet point that centers accurately and reduces thrust on thin, layered materials. The 1/8-inch shank diameter (0.1250 inches) fits standard collets and drill chucks used in benchtop CNC drilling equipment. The uncoated solid carbide construction provides rigidity and edge retention when working with abrasive or composite substrates. Licensed machinists, electronics manufacturing technicians, and precision fabricators are the primary installers of this tooling.
This bit is suited for small-diameter through-hole drilling in circuit board panels, multilayer PCB stacks, and precision machined components requiring tight positional tolerance. The 130-degree four-facet point geometry performs well across a broad range of workpiece materials including aluminum, copper alloy, stainless steel, titanium, cobalt alloy, nickel, cast iron, plastics, and fiber-reinforced polymers. The regular spiral with a 30-degree helix angle provides consistent chip evacuation during high-speed drilling passes in both single-piece and production-volume setups.
Designed for use in standard 1/8-inch collet CNC drilling equipment and benchtop drill presses used in circuit board and precision machining applications. Compatible workpiece materials include aluminum, cast iron, cobalt alloy, copper alloy, fiber-reinforced polymers, nickel, plastics, stainless steel, and titanium.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or electronics manufacturing technicians familiar with CNC drilling equipment and micro-tooling handling procedures. Secure the shank fully in the collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits before drilling. At this diameter, feed rate and spindle speed must be dialed in carefully to avoid bit deflection or breakage. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before and after use to confirm edge integrity.
