The SGS 05111 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 3 mm cutting diameter with a 0.3543-inch length of cut and four right-hand spiral flutes ground from micrograin carbide. The 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The bright, uncoated finish is suited for non-ferrous metals, plastics, and general-purpose milling where a coating is not required. This single-end tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working on milling machines, machining centers, and manual mills.
This end mill is appropriate for small-diameter finish and semi-finish milling passes on parts requiring tight tolerances. The regular-length configuration handles standard-depth pockets, slots, and peripheral milling without the deflection risk associated with extended-reach tools. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet chucks and end mill holders designed for 3 mm shank diameters. It is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where compact, precise solid carbide tooling is required.
Designed for use in standard collet chucks and end mill holders accepting a 3 mm straight cylindrical shank; suitable for CNC machining centers and manual milling machines capable of running small-diameter solid carbide tooling.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Verify collet or holder bore size matches the 3 mm shank diameter before tightening to prevent runout. Inspect the cutting edges for chipping before each use, as micrograin carbide is brittle and sensitive to interrupted cuts or excessive runout. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting tool offsets and cutting parameters.
