The SGS 05000 is a square end mill designed for precision micro-milling operations in demanding metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin solid carbide and coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), it delivers exceptional hardness and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The mill measures 0.1 mm (0.0039 inches) in diameter with a length of cut of 0.0059 inches, making it suited for extremely fine detail work. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation, and the two-flute configuration balances rigidity with chip clearance in tight geometries. Overall length is 38 mm (1.496 inches). This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tool-and-die professionals.
The SGS 05000 is applied in high-precision CNC milling where very small feature sizes are required, such as micro-cavities, fine slots, and detail work in hardened steels, stainless alloys, titanium, and similar difficult-to-machine materials. The AlTiN coating extends tool life in high-temperature dry or semi-dry cutting environments. The straight cylindrical shank with a 3 mm (0.1181 inch) diameter fits standard collet toolholders used on vertical machining centers and CNC routers configured for micro-tooling. The regular length profile keeps deflection minimal at this diameter.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines equipped with collet toolholders accepting a 3 mm straight cylindrical shank, in applications requiring micro-diameter square end milling.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before loading or removing the tool from the collet holder. Verify collet bore size matches the 3 mm shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits before beginning a cut, as runout has an amplified effect at micro diameters. Consult the machine manufacturer and tooling guidelines for appropriate speeds and feeds for the workpiece material.
