The SGS 02642 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. It features a 0.02-inch cutting diameter and a 0.1-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for fine detail work, slot milling, and profiling in tight geometries. The tool is coated with AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride), which provides elevated heat resistance and extends tool life when cutting hardened steels, stainless alloys, and other difficult materials. With four flutes and a 30-degree helix angle, this end mill delivers smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting performance at high speeds. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators working in precision machine shops and production environments.
This end mill is suited for CNC milling centers and manual mills requiring small-diameter tooling. The 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collet systems and tool holders accepting 1/8-inch shank tooling. The extended-length overall dimension of 2.5 inches allows access to deeper features while the micrograin carbide substrate maintains rigidity and edge integrity. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration is consistent with conventional milling setups. This tool is appropriate for finishing and light profiling passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where tight tolerances are required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 1/8-inch collets and tool holders used on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or tool holder and torque the retention mechanism according to the tool holder manufacturer's specifications. Verify runout after installation with a dial indicator before beginning cuts, particularly important at this small diameter where even minor runout can cause premature breakage.
