The SGS 00828 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.022-inch cutting diameter and a 0.066-inch length of cut, this tool is engineered for fine detail work, micro-slot milling, and small-feature profiling. It runs a 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle, promoting efficient chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The micrograin carbide substrate provides wear resistance and edge integrity at elevated cutting speeds. This end mill is uncoated and centercutting, meaning it can plunge directly into workpiece material. It is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in shop environments.
The SGS 00828 is suited for CNC machining centers, micro-milling operations, and manual milling setups requiring a small-diameter cutting tool. Its 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank fits standard collet systems commonly found on vertical machining centers and high-speed spindles. The regular-length geometry and 1.5-inch overall length make it practical for shallow-to-moderate-depth features where rigidity is a priority. Typical applications include slot milling, contouring, and profiling of small components in aerospace, medical device, mold, and die work.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement for Series 1610 micro square end mills with a 1/8-inch straight-cylindrical shank, compatible with standard collet toolholding systems accepting that shank diameter.
This end mill is installed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians and requires a collet or toolholder rated for a 1/8-inch shank. Ensure the spindle and toolholder are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tool. Verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting, as concentricity is critical at this diameter. Follow machine manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety standards when setting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.
