The SGS 00705 is a solid carbide ball end mill designed for precision milling of contoured surfaces, slots, and complex 3D profiles in a variety of workpiece materials. The 0.0400-inch cutting diameter and 2-flute geometry make this tool well-suited for fine detail work and finishing passes in small-feature applications. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces at the tool tip. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and edge retention needed for demanding cuts in hardened steels, stainless, and non-ferrous alloys. Machinists and toolroom operators working on molds, dies, and precision components rely on this class of end mill for tight-tolerance work.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines where small-diameter tooling is required. Its 0.0620-inch length of cut suits shallow pocket work and finishing operations on intricate part geometries. The 1/8-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and tool holders commonly found in vertical machining centers and high-speed spindles. The single-end configuration and right-hand cutting and flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling setups. It is appropriate for both production and prototype work where fine surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities.
Designed as a standard single-end ball end mill in the SGS Series 1625 line, compatible with 1/8-inch collet tool holders used in CNC vertical machining centers and high-speed milling spindles.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or lockout state before inserting or removing the tool. Seat the 1/8-inch shank fully in the collet to the recommended engagement depth before tightening. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool setup, as small-diameter carbide tools are sensitive to collet concentricity and clamping force.
