The SGS 00629 is a solid carbide square end mill engineered for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 0.08-inch cutting diameter and 4-flute spiral geometry, it removes material efficiently while maintaining a clean square shoulder profile. The micrograin carbide construction delivers hardness and wear resistance suited to demanding cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. At 2.5 inches overall length with a 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank, it fits standard collet toolholders used in CNC and manual milling machines. A 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and reduces cutting forces on small-diameter work.
This end mill is intended for single-end use in light to medium milling operations where a small-diameter tool is required, such as slotting, profiling, and contour milling of close-tolerance features. The bright uncoated finish makes it appropriate for cutting aluminum, brass, and other non-ferrous metals, as well as certain plastics. Its extended-length classification provides additional reach for applications where standard-length tools cannot access the workpiece geometry. The 0.64-inch length of cut falls within the 0.60 to 0.70-inch LOC range for this tool family.
Designed as a replacement-style solid carbide square end mill compatible with standard 1/8-inch collet toolholders on CNC machining centers and manual milling machines requiring a small-diameter, extended-reach cutting tool.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician using an appropriate collet or end mill holder sized for a 0.125-inch shank diameter. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Verify collet runout and clamping torque per the toolholder manufacturer specifications before operation. Small-diameter carbide end mills are brittle and susceptible to breakage if side-loaded aggressively or run at incorrect feed and speed parameters.
