The SGS 00617 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metal, composite, and engineered material applications. The cutting diameter measures 0.035 inches with a length of cut of 0.28 inches, making it well suited for fine-feature slot milling, profiling, and contouring at tight tolerances. The four-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Micrograin carbide construction provides the hardness and wear resistance required for demanding cuts. The bright, uncoated finish is appropriate for general-purpose use across a range of workpiece materials. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this type of tooling.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter, high-precision cuts are required. The 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank is a common size that fits standard collet toolholding systems. This tooling should be installed and set up by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or seating the tool in the collet. Ensure the collet bore and shank are clean and free of chips before tightening. At 0.035-inch diameter, this tool is highly susceptible to breakage from excessive feed rates, runout, or improper collet seating — verify runout with an indicator before cutting.
