The SGS 00581 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide, it delivers consistent cutting performance and edge retention at small diameters. The mill measures 0.1094 inches (7/64 inches) in diameter with a 21/64 inch (0.3281 inch) length of cut and a 1.5 inch overall length. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation and produces a clean square shoulder finish. The bright, uncoated surface is suitable for a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials where coating adhesion or heat buildup is not a primary concern.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, vertical mills, and precision manual mills where small-diameter cutting tools are required. It is suited for slotting, profiling, and light pocketing operations in tool and die, mold making, aerospace component work, and general precision part manufacturing. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard collets and tool holders sized for 1/8 inch shank tooling, making it compatible with common small-bore spindle setups found in production and job shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct tooling selection for applications requiring a 1/8 inch straight shank, 7/64 inch diameter solid carbide square end mill in standard collet and end mill holder setups.
Installation and tool changes must be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully powered down and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into the collet or end mill holder before tightening to ensure runout is minimized. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or damage before each use, as micrograin carbide tools at this diameter are sensitive to shock loading and improper clamping. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling manufacturer guidelines for speeds, feeds, and depth of cut appropriate to the workpiece material.
