The SGS 00359 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It features a 0.07 inch cutting diameter, a 0.105 inch length of cut, and a 2-flute, single-end configuration with a 30-degree helix angle. The micrograin carbide substrate provides the hardness and wear resistance needed for tight-tolerance work in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and high-temperature alloys. It carries a bright/uncoated finish and falls within the stub-length category, with a 1.5 inch overall length and a 0.125 inch straight shank. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals use this end mill for slot milling, profiling, and contour work where a small-diameter, high-rigidity tool is required.
This end mill fits applications where tight spaces or small-feature geometries demand a sub-0.1 inch cutting diameter. The 0.125 inch shank diameter makes it compatible with standard ER collet chucks and similar small-bore toolholding systems used on CNC machining centers, CNC mills, and manual knee mills. The right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction is the conventional configuration for standard spindle rotation. The stub length adds rigidity, reducing deflection when cutting harder workpiece materials. It is well suited for mold-making, aerospace component work, and precision prototype machining.
Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S). The 0.125 inch straight shank fits standard ER collets and small-bore toolholders designed for that shank diameter.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before changing tooling, bring the spindle to a full stop and confirm the machine is in a safe, de-energized state per your shop lockout/tagout procedure. Seat the shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the retention nut to the toolholder manufacturer's specification. Inspect the cutting edges under magnification before use — at 0.07 inches diameter, edge chipping may not be visible to the naked eye but will affect surface finish and tool life.
