The SGS 00342 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precise material removal in close-tolerance machining applications. Built from micrograin carbide stock, it delivers the rigidity and edge retention needed when working with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The cutter measures 0.0469 inches (3/64 inch) in diameter with a 0.0625-inch (1/16 inch) length of cut, a 0.125-inch (1/8 inch) straight shank, and a 1.5-inch overall length. Its two-flute geometry and 30-degree helix angle promote chip evacuation while maintaining cutting stability at this micro diameter. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC tooling professionals on vertical machining centers and precision mills.
The SGS 00342 is suited for stub-length milling work where reach is limited and tool rigidity is critical. It excels in slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling of ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flute configuration make it compatible with standard CNC and manual mill spindles. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece. Applications span aerospace component finishing, mold and die detail work, and precision part production in job shop and production environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills accepting a 1/8 inch straight shank end mill. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S).
This end mill is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Secure the 1/8 inch straight shank in a properly sized collet or end mill holder, ensuring full and even contact along the shank length before torquing the holder. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before cutting, as runout errors are amplified at this micro diameter and will accelerate tool wear. Always confirm the machine is in a safe, powered-down or e-stopped state before changing tooling.
