The SGS 00321 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in tight-tolerance applications. With a 0.025-inch cutting diameter and a 0.038-inch length of cut, this tool is built for micro-milling work where dimensional accuracy is critical. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral configuration with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. Machined from micrograin solid carbide and left uncoated, the 00321 delivers consistent performance in a stub-length form factor. A licensed machinist or CNC programmer typically specifies this tool for finish passes on small features, slots, and contours.
This end mill is suited for CNC machining centers and manual mills where small-diameter tooling is required. The 0.125-inch straight cylindrical shank fits standard collets and tool holders across a wide range of vertical and horizontal machining platforms. Its stub length and 1.5-inch overall length make it appropriate for work in confined areas where rigidity and minimal tool deflection matter. The centercutting geometry allows both plunge and ramp entry, adding versatility to the toolpath strategy.
Designed as a standard straight-shank square end mill compatible with collets and end mill holders accepting a 0.125-inch shank diameter on CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer or collet is locked out before changing tooling. Verify collet bore size matches the 0.125-inch shank before clamping, and confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating. Follow shop safety protocols and machine manufacturer guidelines for micro-diameter tooling, as small-diameter carbide end mills are brittle and susceptible to breakage under side load or excessive feed rate.
