The SERVICE METAL ser02.502.0 is a carbon steel butt weld eccentric reducer designed for piping systems that require a flat-side offset between two pipe sizes. This fitting transitions from a 2.5-inch pipe to a 2-inch pipe while maintaining one flat side, which is essential for controlling flow direction, preventing air pockets in liquid lines, and allowing proper drainage in horizontal runs. It is manufactured from carbon steel and is joined by butt weld, making it suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature industrial and mechanical piping applications. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors are the primary installers.
This eccentric reducer is used in commercial and industrial piping systems where standard concentric reducers are not appropriate. Typical applications include pump suction lines, where an eccentric reducer prevents cavitation by keeping the bottom of the pipe flat, as well as drain and process lines requiring consistent flow control across a size transition. The fitting is suited for steam, water, and general process piping applications built to standard butt weld fabrication practices.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard carbon steel butt weld piping systems using 2.5-inch to 2-inch eccentric reducer configurations.
Installation must be performed by a qualified pipefitter or welder following applicable codes including ASME B16.9 butt weld fitting standards and local mechanical codes. Depressurize and drain the piping system completely before cutting or welding. Use appropriate purge and preheat procedures for carbon steel butt welds per project specifications. Orient the flat side correctly relative to flow direction before tacking into position.
