The SECO 74050193 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMG432-MR3-38 configuration, grade 890, with an uncoated (bright) finish suited for aggressive cutting in difficult-to-machine materials. Built to ANSI and ISO standards, this insert features an 80-degree diamond shape with a negative rake angle and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. The 0.5-inch inscribed circle and 1/32-inch corner radius define its geometry, while the MR3 chip breaker is engineered to manage chip flow during high-load operations. With four usable cutting edges, this insert delivers consistent performance across boring, facing, and turning applications.
This insert is designed primarily for machining superalloys and titanium (ISO material code S), with secondary suitability for steel, cast iron, non-ferrous materials, and hardened materials (material codes M, K, N, H). Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning on CNC lathes and turning centers where tight tolerances and controlled chip formation are critical. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard right-hand and left-hand toolholders using clamp, pin, or lever-lock insert holding methods. It is appropriate for aerospace, power generation, and industrial machining environments where superalloy and titanium components are common.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket and verify the clamping mechanism is fully engaged before resuming cutting operations. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for wear or debris prior to each insert change. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's specifications for clamp torque and insert retention hardware.
