The SECO 74043776 is a solid carbide, round profiling and turning insert in the RCGS style, designed for precision material removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying manufacturer grade 883 with an uncoated finish, this insert features a 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) inscribed circle and a 23/64 inch (0.3594 inch) thickness. The PS chipbreaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action, reducing cutting forces on the workpiece. With four usable cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent performance across multiple indexing cycles. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in T-Lock style toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods.
This insert is suited for profiling and turning operations on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The neutral hand orientation allows flexible application in both roughing and finishing passes where contour accuracy is critical. It is appropriate for high-speed turning centers in production shop and job shop environments handling aerospace-grade alloys, carbide-compatible non-ferrous workpieces, and hard material components.

Compatible primary workpiece materials are coded N (non-ferrous metal), S (superalloys and titanium), and H (hard material). Secondary workpiece material codes include H, K, M, and N. Install and index this insert with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the appropriate T-Lock clamp or pin hardware as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not mix holding methods without verifying seat geometry. Confirm insert seating and torque clamp fasteners to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before resuming operation. Worn or chipped cutting edges should be indexed or replaced before re-entering the cut to avoid workpiece damage or toolholder failure.
