The SECO 74030598 is a CNMG432-MF3 indexable turning insert manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer CVD coating of TiC, TiCN, and TiN. The TP40 grade is engineered for high toughness in steel and stainless steel applications and provides moderate wear resistance in hardened materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, negative rake geometry, and MF3 chip breaker are optimized for finishing and light machining operations. With four usable cutting edges and a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, this insert delivers consistent performance in turning, facing, and boring applications. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and hardened materials in both light-duty and finishing passes. The MF3 chip breaker geometry controls chip formation during low-depth-of-cut finishing cuts. The TP40 grade aligns with ISO material grades P40, M35, and M40, making it a practical choice for production turning of carbon steel, alloy steel, and austenitic stainless steel on CNC lathes and turning centers. Insert holding methods include clamp, pin, and lever lock toolholders. Minimum order quantity is 10 inserts; each package contains one insert.
Designed to fit standard CNMG toolholders that accept clamp, pin, or lever lock insert-holding methods. Conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO insert code CNMG120408, allowing direct interchange with any toolholder specifying that seat geometry.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the CNMG432 seat size.
