The SECO 74019327 is a solid carbide boring insert in the SCMT style, designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It carries the manufacturer grade TP40 and features a multilayer CVD coating system consisting of TiC, TiCN, and TiN, which provides wear resistance and thermal stability during interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a 90-degree included angle with a square shape, a 7-degree relief angle, and the F2 chipbreaker geometry. Four usable cutting edges are available per insert, maximizing value per piece. Maximum depth of cut is 0.197 inches.
This insert is suited for boring and internal turning applications in ferrous machining environments. Primary workpiece materials include cast iron, stainless steel, and carbon and alloy steels, corresponding to ISO material codes K, M, and P. It is appropriate for production environments where consistent chip control and edge life are required across moderate to heavy cutting conditions.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement boring insert for SCMT-series toolholders accepting the 120408 insert size code. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry and clamping style before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating and edge orientation before resuming cutting operations.
