The SECO 74016731 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation SPMX090304-75, offered in manufacturer grade T25M with a CVD-applied TiCN coating. It features a square shape with a 90-degree included angle, a positive rake angle of 16 degrees, and a T-Land cutting edge style that supports stable, productive cutting in demanding applications. The insert provides four usable cutting edges on a single-sided body, with a corner radius of 0.0157 inches (1/64 inch nominal) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.3750 inches. Medium grain carbide substrate paired with TiCN coating delivers heat and wear resistance suited to high-feed face and shoulder milling operations.
This insert is designed for milling of steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium in both production and maintenance shop environments. It is compatible with SECO cutter series R215.39, R215.49-3, and R417.19-3. The neutral hand orientation and screw-holding method make it straightforward to seat in compatible toolholders. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocketing operations on CNC machining centers and manual knee mills where a reliable, multi-edge carbide insert is required.
Designed for use in SECO cutter series R215.39, R215.49-3, and R417.19-3. Insert designation SPMX090304-75 conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material groups P, M, and S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians following standard carbide insert seating procedures. Ensure the cutter body and insert pocket are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert. Secure with the appropriate torque-rated screw per the cutter body manufacturer's tooling documentation. Inspect cutting edges for chipping before each use and index or replace as needed to maintain part quality and machine spindle safety.
