The SECO 74016471 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ANSI and ISO designation APFT1604PDTR-E08. It is a parallelogram-shaped, single-sided insert in the APFT-16 series, manufactured from medium grain solid carbide and finished with a CVD-applied TiCN coating. The insert features a positive rake angle of 12 degrees, an 11-degree relief angle, a T-Land cutting edge style, and two cutting edges. Inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches and overall cutting edge effective length is 0.6461 inches. The E08 chip breaker geometry is designed to handle interrupted and continuous cuts in challenging workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC milling platforms.
The APFT1604PDTR-E08 is designed for milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Its positive rake geometry reduces cutting forces, making it well suited for finish and semi-finish milling where heat generation and tool pressure are concerns. The T25M grade provides thermal resistance and edge toughness appropriate for medium-grain carbide applications across ISO material groups P, M, and S. The right-hand cutting orientation and screw-holding method are standard for the cutter bodies in the R217.69-16 and R220.69-16 series.
Compatible with SECO cutter series R217.69-16 and R220.69-16. Suitable for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. ANSI and ISO code: APFT1604PDTR-E08.
Installation is performed by qualified machining technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Ensure the cutter body is secured and the spindle is fully stopped and locked out before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the cutter body manufacturer specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to prevent improper seating and premature edge failure.
