The SECO 74001415 is a solid carbide, uncoated round turning insert in the RCMM series, designed for precision metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Featuring a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 0.25-inch corner radius, and a 7-degree relief angle with positive rake geometry, this insert delivers controlled cutting action on demanding workpiece materials. The honed cutting edge style promotes edge integrity under high-temperature and high-stress conditions. It is installed and replaced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians working in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for facing, profiling, and turning operations, with primary application on superalloys and titanium workpieces where tool life and edge consistency are critical. The 46 chip breaker geometry and full-radius round insert shape make it effective across a range of radial and axial passes. Secondary workpiece material compatibility extends to steel, cast iron, non-ferrous, and hardened materials. The insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in toolholders and insert seats that accept RCMM-style round inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 0.2031-inch hole diameter. ISO code RCMM120400-46; industry standard number RCMM43-46. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces and secure using the designated clamp, pin, or lever lock mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Do not overtighten the clamping screw in a way that distorts the insert seat; follow the toolholder documentation for proper clamping procedure.
