The SECO 17016591 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling operations. It is ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and coated with TiCN for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance. The cutter measures 3/4 inch in diameter with a 3/4 inch length of cut and a 3-inch overall length. Four right-hand spiral flutes at a 30-degree maximum helix angle drive chips clear during heavy roughing passes. The stub-length geometry keeps the tool rigid under high feed rates. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without a pilot hole. This end mill is installed and used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on vertical and horizontal milling machines and machining centers.
This end mill suits roughing applications in ferrous and high-temperature alloy workpieces where cobalt tooling is the standard choice. The TiCN coating adds a layer of surface hardness that extends tool life compared to uncoated HSS tooling. The 3/4-inch shank fits standard ER or side-lock tool holders used in CNC machining centers as well as manual knee mills. It is a stub-length tool, making it the preferred choice when tool overhang must be minimized to reduce chatter and deflection during roughing cuts.

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and locked before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder and torque the retention mechanism to the holder manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut. Do not exceed the tool's rated depth of cut or feed rate for the workpiece material.
