The SECO 17016453 is a single-end square end mill ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating. It carries a 1.25-inch cutting diameter, a 3-inch length of cut, and a 5.5-inch overall length. The 4-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle is designed for productive material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The centercutting configuration allows direct plunge entry. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shop and production environments are the typical users of this tool.
The 17016453 is suited for milling operations on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both manual and CNC machining centers. Its short length type and 1.25-inch shank diameter provide rigidity in setups where tool deflection must be controlled. The TiCN coating improves surface hardness and wear resistance relative to uncoated cobalt, making this mill a practical choice for interrupted cuts and abrasive materials. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional milling spindle rotation.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application end mill for use in standard end mill holders, collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter. Suitable for steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and high-temperature alloy (S) workpiece material classifications per ISO application codes.
This end mill is installed by a licensed machinist or CNC operator following standard toolroom practices. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the tool. Verify holder bore diameter matches the 1.25-inch shank before clamping, and torque the retention screw or collet nut to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut or axial engagement for cobalt-grade end mills in hard or abrasive materials without confirming machine rigidity and spindle condition.
