The SECO 17016375 is a single-end square end mill from the SP205 series, ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel and finished with a TiCN coating. It carries a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length on a 0.5-inch straight shank. The 30-degree right-hand spiral flutes — two total — are centercutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. TiCN coating adds surface hardness and oxidation resistance over uncoated cobalt, extending tool life in abrasive and moderately hard workpiece materials.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys — material groups P, M, K, and S in ISO designation. Short-length geometry keeps the tool rigid in general-purpose slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on manual mills and CNC machining centers. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is standard for conventional and climb milling in these material families. It is a practical choice for job shops and production environments working across a range of ferrous materials.
Designed for use in 0.5-inch collets, ER-style chucks, or end mill holders on vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys (ISO material groups P, M, K, S).
A licensed machinist or qualified CNC operator should install and run this tooling. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Verify the shank is clean and seated fully in the holder before tightening; runout should not exceed the rated 0.001-inch TIR maximum. Consult the machine and tooling manufacturer for recommended speeds and feeds based on workpiece material and depth of cut.
