The SECO 17016372 is a two-flute cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built to Series SP205 standards, it features a TiCN coating over an M42 cobalt substrate, providing added hardness and heat resistance during aggressive cuts. The 0.375-inch mill diameter is matched by a 0.375-inch shank diameter, with a 0.5625-inch length of cut and a 2.3125-inch overall length. The 30-degree spiral helix and right-hand cut geometry promote efficient chip evacuation. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This end mill is suited for short-reach milling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. Its centercutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled hole, making it versatile across slotting, profiling, and pocket-milling operations. The short length-of-cut classification keeps the tool rigid under load, reducing deflection when working in harder materials. It is appropriate for both manual mills and CNC machining centers where a fractional-inch, right-hand-flute toolpath is programmed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling solution for applications requiring a 3/8-inch cobalt square end mill with a 3/8-inch straight shank, suitable for standard R8, ER, or equivalent collet systems accepting a 0.375-inch shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists using appropriate collet chucks or end mill holders rated for the 0.375-inch shank diameter. Verify spindle runout before operation; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.001 inch. Always confirm work-holding is secure and machine speed and feed rates are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Never exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut for the diameter in use.
