The SECO 17014589 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers heat and wear resistance needed for interrupted cuts and tough ferrous materials. The 1/2 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 2 inch length of cut and a 36-degree high helix angle to clear chips efficiently and reduce chatter. The bright uncoated finish suits applications where coating would be counterproductive or unnecessary. Licensed machinists and tool-and-die professionals select this style of roughing end mill when they need to hog stock fast before finishing passes.
This end mill fits standard CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines accepting a 1/2 inch straight shank. The long-series overall length of 4 inches gives additional reach for deeper setups or fixtures that require clearance. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction are standard for conventional and climb milling on most horizontal and vertical spindle machines. It is center-cutting, allowing direct plunge entry into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement or standard tooling selection for 1/2 inch ER or straight-shank collet chucks and milling machine spindles requiring a single-end cobalt roughing end mill in the RHC752 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is powered down before loading or unloading the end mill. Seat the shank fully in the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the toolholder specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a cut, particularly when tight diameter tolerances are required.
