The SECO 17014109 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers the heat and wear resistance needed for cutting ferrous metals and tough alloys. The mill measures 0.75 inches in diameter with a 1.625-inch length of cut and a 3.875-inch overall length. Four spiral flutes in a right-hand cutting and right-hand flute configuration channel chips away efficiently. The bright, uncoated finish is standard for cobalt tooling used in general-purpose roughing operations. This tool is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in manual and CNC milling setups.
This end mill suits roughing passes in job shops, maintenance machining, and production environments where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and regrindability. The regular-length geometry fits standard ER and side-lock tool holders with a 0.75-inch shank. It is not center-cutting, so it is not suited for plunge entry. Typical applications include shoulder milling, slot roughing, and peripheral cutting in steel, stainless, and cast iron. The 30-degree maximum helix angle balances chip evacuation with cutting edge strength on moderate-depth passes.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the tool. Seat the shank fully into the tool holder to the recommended gauge depth before torquing the retention hardware. Confirm runout with a dial indicator before taking the first cut; excessive runout accelerates edge wear and can cause chatter on roughing passes.
