The SECO 17014108 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright, uncoated finish, it offers increased heat and wear resistance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 3/4-inch mill diameter and 4-flute spiral configuration support high chip loads and efficient evacuation during roughing passes. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard. With a 1.625-inch length of cut and 3.75-inch overall length, this tool is sized for regular-length reach in typical workholding setups. A 30-degree maximum helix angle balances cutting efficiency with edge strength across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
This roughing end mill is suited for use in manual knee mills, CNC vertical machining centers, and bridgeport-style machines where high-volume stock removal is the priority. It is commonly used in job shops and production environments machining steel, stainless, and other tough alloys. The reduced shank diameter of 0.625 inches accommodates standard toolholders and collet systems. No coolant-through capability means it is intended for flood, mist, or dry cutting setups depending on material and machine configuration.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill replacement for use in standard 5/8-inch bore collets and end mill holders on vertical and horizontal milling machines.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 0.625-inch shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque the drawbar or clamping nut to the machine manufacturer's specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a cut, and confirm cutting direction matches the right-hand spindle rotation of the machine.
