The SECO 17014100 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a bright/uncoated finish, it features a 5/8 inch mill diameter, 4 spiral flutes, and a 30-degree maximum helix angle. The stub-length geometry keeps the tool rigid under heavy cuts, making it well-suited for roughing passes where tool deflection and chatter are primary concerns. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction are standard on this series REM710 tool. No coolant-through ports and a non-centercutting design mean it is used for peripheral and side milling rather than plunge operations.
This end mill is used in job shop and production machining environments where cobalt tooling is preferred over carbide for its toughness and resistance to chipping under interrupted cuts or on harder workpiece materials.
