The SECO 17014068 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers elevated heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The 1/4 inch cutting diameter, 5/8 inch length of cut, and 4-flute spiral geometry make it well-suited for roughing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous metals where chip evacuation and tool life are priorities. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals will find this cutter appropriate for conventional milling setups requiring right-hand cutting and flute direction.
This end mill fits standard 3/8 inch shank tool holders and is appropriate for use on manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills operating within the tool capacity for 1/4 inch diameter cutters. The regular length designation and 2-7/16 inch overall length make it compatible with typical side milling, slotting, and profiling operations where deep reach is not required. This is a single-use end configuration; no center-cutting capability is present, so plunge entry is not recommended without a pre-drilled entry point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use roughing end mill for standard 3/8 inch shank collet and end mill holders used in conventional and CNC milling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom professional. Ensure the machine spindle is fully powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Seat the 3/8 inch shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the drawbar or set screw according to the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Do not use this end mill for plunge cutting, as it is not center-cutting.
