The SECO 17013528 is a single-end cobalt roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiCN coating, it delivers improved wear resistance and heat tolerance compared to standard HSS tooling. The 2-inch cutting diameter and 8-flute configuration allow high feed rates while managing chip load across each flute. At 2 inches length of cut and 4.5 inches overall length, this is a regular-length tool suited for most standard-depth roughing passes. A licensed machinist or toolroom professional installs and operates this end mill in CNC or manual milling equipment.
This end mill is used in production and job-shop machining environments where rapid stock removal is the priority before finishing passes. The REM710 series roughing geometry is appropriate for machining ferrous metals and harder alloys where a standard end mill would deflect or wear prematurely. The 1.25-inch shank diameter fits standard ER or side-lock holders common in vertical machining centers and knee mills. Right-hand cut and right-hand spiral flutes are standard orientation for conventional milling setups.
Designed as an OEM-style roughing end mill for use in standard milling machine spindles and tool holders accepting a 1.25-inch shank diameter. Verify holder bore tolerance and drawbar requirements before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the milling machine spindle before inserting or removing the tool from its holder. Ensure the holder bore is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. This tool is non-centercutting and must not be used for direct plunge operations — ramp or helical entry paths are required.
