The SECO 17013185 is a corner chamfer end mill designed for material removal in demanding machining applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end tool features four helical flutes with a super-close pitch and a 45-degree chamfer angle at a 0.0400-inch chamfer width. The 1-1/4-inch diameter cutter carries a 2-inch length of cut and a 4-1/2-inch overall length. It ships bright and uncoated, ready for use on CNC mills and manual knee mills alike. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive without slippage. Licensed machinists and toolroom professionals specify this tool for ferrous and exotic workpiece materials.
The 17013185 belongs to the SECO VFP635 series, engineered primarily for stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. Typical applications include shouldering, slotting, ramp-down milling, helical interpolation, drill milling, and plunge and recess operations. The centercutting geometry allows direct plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. The right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting rotation match standard spindle configurations on most vertical machining centers. No coolant-through capability is present, so flood or mist coolant is delivered externally at the cutting zone.
Designed for use in standard end mill holders and Weldon-style set-screw tool holders accepting a 1-1/4-inch shank diameter. Primary workpiece materials are stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO material codes M and S). Part of the SECO VFP635 series; manufacturer catalog number VFP635-1.250-D2-C040.3-Z6.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the set screw in the tool holder and torque the set screw to the tool holder manufacturer specification before running. Confirm runout with a dial indicator after seating, especially for tight-tolerance chamfering work. External flood or mist coolant is recommended since this tool does not have coolant-through capability.
