The SECO 17011826 is a cobalt square end mill built for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, and high-temperature alloys. Ground from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers better heat and wear resistance than standard M2 HSS tooling. The cutter measures 0.875 inches in diameter with a 3.5-inch length of cut and a 5.75-inch overall length, placing it in the long series SPC408 line. It features four spiral flutes, a 30-degree helix angle, right-hand cut, right-hand flute direction, and a bright uncoated finish. Licensed machinists and tool-room operators use this end mill in manual mills, CNC machining centers, and knee mills where long reach or deep-pocket milling is required.
This end mill suits general-purpose and production machining in job shops and manufacturing environments. The long length-of-cut geometry makes it appropriate for deep pocket milling, slotting, and peripheral profiling where a standard-length tool cannot reach. Its centercutting design allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece without a pre-drilled hole. Primary workpiece materials include carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. The 0.875-inch shank diameter matches standard R8, CAT, BT, and direct-mount collet toolholders commonly found in trade machine shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for SECO SPC408 series long cobalt square end mills with a 0.875-inch shank diameter. Compatible with any toolholder accepting a 0.875-inch straight shank.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle drive before loading or removing the tool from its holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges and shank for runout using a dial indicator before first use; maximum TIR for this tool is 0.001 inches per specification. Never exceed the spindle speed and feed rate limits recommended for the workpiece material and depth of cut.
