The SECO 17011788 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for milling operations in demanding metalworking applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers good wear resistance and toughness compared to standard HSS tooling. The cutter features a 0.75-inch diameter, a 2-inch length of cut, and a 0.75-inch straight shank, giving it a total overall length of 4.25 inches. Its 4-flute, spiral-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. The bright uncoated finish keeps tooling costs low where coatings are not required. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers use this tool in vertical and horizontal milling operations across job shops and production environments.
This end mill is suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Rated workpiece material categories include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. The right-hand cut and right-hand flute configuration is compatible with standard CNC machining centers and manual milling machines. Centercutting capability allows plunge entry into the workpiece without pre-drilling, which adds flexibility to the machining process. The SPC408 series is a general-purpose cobalt offering appropriate for both prototype and production runs where tool life and dimensional accuracy matter.
Designed as a general-purpose replacement or production end mill compatible with standard 0.75-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, and hydraulic toolholders used in CNC machining centers and manual vertical mills. Part of the SECO SPC408 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in an e-stop or locked-out state before seating or removing the tool from the holder. Verify proper runout (TIR maximum 0.0010 inches) after tool installation using a dial indicator before beginning the cut. Follow shop-standard feeds-and-speeds practice for the target workpiece material and consult the applicable cutting data for cobalt tooling when programming spindle speeds and feed rates.
