The SECO 17011703 is a single-end square end mill designed for material removal in milling operations across a wide range of workpiece materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this stub-length tool features a 0.25 inch cutting diameter, a 0.25 inch length of cut, and a 0.375 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2.0625 inches. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle delivers efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish on ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is uncoated with a bright finish and is centercutting, allowing plunge entry. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals install this tool in CNC or manual milling machines for slotting, profiling, and contouring cuts.
The 17011703 is rated for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The stub-length configuration provides increased rigidity, making it well suited for short-reach applications where chatter and deflection must be minimized. Typical applications include precision slotting, shoulder milling, and face milling in job shop, toolroom, and production environments. The 3/8 inch shank is sized for standard end mill holders and collet chucks commonly found in CNC machining centers and knee mills.
Designed for use on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and high-temperature alloys. Fits standard 3/8 inch end mill holders and collet chuck systems used in CNC machining centers and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the shank fully within the holder to the minimum clamping depth before tightening to avoid tool pullout under load. Verify spindle runout against the stated TIR maximum of 0.0010 inches prior to cutting. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended feed and speed parameters for the target workpiece material and do not use this tool in left-hand spindle rotation.
