The SECO 17011699 is a single-end, square-profile cobalt end mill designed for precision milling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, it delivers increased heat resistance and edge retention compared to standard HSS tooling. The 5/32-inch cutting diameter is paired with a 1/2-inch length of cut and a 3/8-inch shank, making it well-suited for light profiling, slotting, and contouring passes in tighter workspaces. The 30-degree helix angle and four-flute spiral geometry promote efficient chip evacuation and a smooth cutting action. This tool ships in a bright, uncoated finish and is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into a workpiece.
The 17011699 is intended for use in CNC machining centers, knee mills, and manual milling machines across job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation are standard for conventional spindle setups. The SPC408 series is a general-purpose cobalt line suited for shops that need reliable performance without a coated tool budget.
Designed as an OEM-style general-purpose end mill for use in standard milling machine spindles and CNC machining centers accepting a 3/8-inch shank. Suitable for workpieces in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys per SECO material codes P, M, K, N, and S.
Installation is performed by machinists and toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before inserting or removing the end mill from its holder. Seat the shank fully into the collet or end mill holder and torque the retention mechanism to the machine tool manufacturer's specification. Verify runout does not exceed 0.0010 inches TIR before beginning a cut, and confirm the correct spindle rotation direction matches the right-hand cut orientation of this tool.
