The SECO 17011636 is a 2-flute cobalt square end mill designed for material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel, this single-end mill features a bright uncoated finish and a 30-degree right-hand spiral flute geometry. The 5/16-inch cutting diameter pairs with a 9/16-inch length of cut, making it well-suited for shallow pocketing, profiling, and slotting operations. Centercutting capability allows direct plunge entry into workpieces. This tool is part of the SP205 short-length series and is installed by machinists and toolroom professionals working with manual or CNC milling equipment.
This end mill is intended for milling operations on ferrous and exotic alloy workpieces in both job shop and production environments. The short overall length of 2-5/16 inches provides rigidity in tight setups or close-tolerance fixtures. The 3/8-inch shank diameter fits standard collets and end mill holders on vertical milling machines and machining centers. Right-hand cut and right-hand flute orientation match conventional milling configurations. The uncoated bright finish is appropriate for applications where coated tooling is not required or where regrinding is planned.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use tooling for standard 3/8-inch collets and end mill holders on vertical knee mills and CNC machining centers. Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys per material codes P, M, K, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool changer or spindle lock engaged before mounting or removing the end mill. Use a properly sized collet or end mill holder torqued per the machine tool manufacturer specifications to avoid runout. Verify TIR at the cutting diameter before beginning production cuts, as maximum TIR for this tool is 0.0010 inches per specification.
