The SECO 17007758 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in ferrous and high-temperature alloy applications. Built from M42 cobalt high-speed steel with a TiAlN coating, it handles elevated cutting temperatures better than standard HSS tooling. The 1/4 inch diameter, 4-flute configuration with a 30-degree helix angle delivers efficient chip evacuation while maintaining rigidity in interrupted cuts. The center-cutting design allows plunge entry. This tool is used by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in manual and CNC milling operations where rough stock removal is the priority before finishing passes.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and similar materials in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments. The 3/8 inch shank fits standard collet and end mill holders commonly found on knee mills and vertical machining centers. With a 5/8 inch length of cut and 2-7/16 inch overall length, it is dimensioned for shorter-reach, high-stability roughing work. It is supplied as a single-end tool, meaning once the cutting end is worn, the tool is replaced rather than flipped.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement roughing end mill for use in standard 3/8 inch collet or end mill holder systems on CNC and manual vertical milling machines.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following standard tooling setup procedures. The tool shank must be clean and fully seated in the collet or end mill holder before tightening to the manufacturer-specified holder torque. The spindle must be fully stopped and the machine locked out before changing tooling. Do not exceed the tool's rated cutting parameters for feed, speed, and depth of cut as specified by the machine and tooling manufacturer.
