The SECO 17007608 is a single-end roughing end mill designed for aggressive material removal in milling applications. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN coating, it handles high-heat cutting environments and maintains edge integrity through extended runs. The mill features a 1/2 inch diameter, five flutes with a fine pitch spiral configuration, and a maximum helix angle of 45 degrees. Right-hand cutting and right-hand flute direction make it a standard setup for conventional CNC and manual milling operations. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals reach for this style of end mill when roughing passes demand high metal removal rates without sacrificing tool life.
This end mill is suited for roughing operations on ferrous and non-ferrous metals in both production shop and job shop environments. The TiAlN coating performs well in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions, making it a practical choice for high-speed machining centers. With a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 3 inch overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups and works in applications where reach is moderate and rigidity is a priority. Installation is performed by qualified machinists following shop toolholding procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before changing tooling. Seat the straight cylindrical shank fully into the holder and torque set screws or collet nuts to the toolholder manufacturer specification. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut, as excessive runout accelerates carbide wear and can cause premature tool failure.
