The SECO 17004997 is a single-end ball end mill designed for high-precision milling of hard and abrasive materials. Built from solid carbide and finished with a CVD diamond coating, this tool handles both roughing and finishing operations in a single setup. The 1/16 inch (0.0625 inch) mill diameter and 4-flute configuration deliver fine detail capability in tight geometries. A 30-degree medium helix angle promotes smooth chip evacuation and stable cutting action. Licensed machinists and CNC tool setters working with composites, graphite, ceramics, or hardened steels will find this tool suited to demanding applications where tool wear is a primary concern.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers for precision contouring, slotting, and profiling of hard or abrasive workpiece materials. The CVD diamond coating makes it particularly well suited for nonferrous and non-metallic materials including carbon fiber reinforced polymer, graphite, and aluminum-silicon alloys. With a 3/16 inch length of cut and 1-1/2 inch overall length, it fits standard toolholding setups on vertical and horizontal milling machines. The straight-cylindrical 1/8 inch shank seats directly in ER-style collets and precision toolholders without modification.
Part of the SECO DIAB430 series (catalog number DIAB430-0.063-F3-B.0-Z4). Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-specification tool for CNC milling applications requiring a 1/16 inch ball end mill with a 1/8 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing tooling. Seat the 1/8 inch shank fully into the collet or toolholder and torque to the toolholder specification. Verify runout against the stated maximum TIR of 0.0003 inch before beginning a cut to avoid premature edge chipping on this small-diameter tool.
